SUMMARY:Blessing of the Pets and Remembrance Ceremony Returns to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens
DESCRIPTION:After two years on hold because of Covid-19\, Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens will once again host its annual Blessing of the Pets and Remembrance Ceremony. The ceremony\, which is open to people and pets of all faiths\, will honor our pet companions both past and present. In addition to pets that attend\, pet parents are welcome to bring photos of their pets who have passed so that they too will be remembered with a blessing. The ceremony will include a special tribute to all service K-9s. This year marks the 55th anniversary of Dulaney Valley’s first pet memorial garden. The event will conclude with the dedication of the Dulaney Valley Pet Loss Center. Pastor Nick Skinner will officiate. WBAL reporter Tommie Clark will serve as emcee. \n“We are pleased to be hosting the Pet Blessing ceremony this year after the hiatus brought on by the pandemic. The ceremony has always held a special place in our hearts as we recognize the powerful and genuine bond that exists between people and their pets. When we started our Pet Blessing event\, we found that many of the families who brought their pets to the ceremony also brought photos or mementoes of their beloved pets who had passed away so that their memory could be blessed as well. That began our tradition of extending the ceremony to honor and remember all pets\,” said Jack Mitchell\, President of Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. \nFormat: \n\n·       Blessing of the pets ceremony officiated by Pastor Nick Skinner.\n·       Celebration of Life for pets who have passed will feature a bubble release.\n·       Tribute to Police K-9s who have passed away within the last two years.\n·       Demo by the Baltimore County Police K-9 Unit.\n·       A tree will be planted as a living memorial to all pets.\n·       The Crisis Response Canines will be honored.\n·       Refreshments and gift.\n·       In honor of Dulaney Valley’s 55th anniversary of providing pet services to the community\, attendees will have a chance to win a $55.00 gift certificate  to the pet store of their choice.\n\n·       Event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Dogfest Returns to The Baltimore Humane Society\nDogfest\, Baltimore Humane Society’s (BHS) biggest fundraiser\,is unique in that it offers entertainment for just about everyone.You don’t need to have a dog to love Dogfest! We expect a large crowd of animal lovers in attendance for this pet-centric day full of games\, contests\, food and fun.Dogs will be able to play games with their people or watch as other pups partake in the fun. \nThere will be plenty of activities for the pups\, including Simon Says\, 20-yarddash\, bubble chase\, paw painting and fun in the sand. There will be opportunities to try out an agility or lure course\,and dogs present at the event can even qualify for the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Award.We’ll have doggy demos from The Department of Public Safety & Corrections Services K-9 Unit. The CDS Detection Dogs are always a big hit sniffing “contraband” on volunteer guests.There will be contests and prizes for Best Costume\, Best Kisser\, Best Dancer\, Best Owner/Pet Look-alike\, Catch the Treat\, Musical Sit and Best Pet Trick–all judged by our local celebrity panel.Kids can enjoy pet-themed arts & crafts\, face painting and a bounce house\, while everyone can peruse the vendor marketplace and visit pet rescue groups with adoptable animals.New this year is Trunk or Treat for both kids and pets. \nBring your appetite\, as a variety of food and treats will be available for purchase during the event.Tickets for adults are $15 online and at the gate.Tickets for children (11 and under)are $7.A Family Pack (2 adult/2 children)tickets is $40.
