Humane Society Of Harford County

The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the welfare and well-being of the approximately 3,000 dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, livestock, rabbits, horses, rodents, wildlife, and even fish that come to us each year.

As an open admission shelter, we do not turn County residents away who are looking to surrender their pet. However, we offer alternatives and counseling to try and prevent the surrender, such as free behavior consultations, a pet food bank, and other resources.

Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) is not a county government agency.  Nor are we affiliated with any national or regional organization, such as the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. Our organization relies on your support, so please help us to help the stray, abused and homeless animals of Harford County by making a tax-deductible contribution today, by clicking here! Planned giving options are also available.

Testimonials

TESTIMONIALS:

“My partner Kevin and I came by last Friday and ended up adopting Kobe! I’d like to shout out Lexi for helping us find such a good fit for our needs. Kelly and Libby at the front desk were amazing, patient, and did everything they could to make this transition and adopting process smooth. Highly recommend visiting either to volunteer, foster/adopt, or just to see the animals! I believe they’re in amazing hands. Thanks so much for everything you do.”  -Taylor

“We love animals, especially dogs. All of our dogs have been rescues and I stand by them making the best companions. Also, to whoever may be reading this, it takes a special person to be able to put forth unconditional love day in and day out the way you do for these animals. Thank you for what you do and please keep fighting the good fight.” -Dave

“We adopted Luna exactly 5 days ago, and we cannot express the gratitude we have for the Harford County Humane Society. After losing our beloved Great Dane in February, we swore we would not get another dog because we were so heart broken. We met with a few of your wonderful employees at a gala over the weekend and were introduced to Luna and immediately fell in love with her. (How could you not, right?) She has helped heal parts of our broken heart with cuddles, snuggles and kisses. She is the sweetest girl and fits in perfectly with our family.” -Domonie
